The countdown is on: The FEI World Championships Aachen 2026 begin in 150 days

A dressage rider in black competition attire and a helmet is riding a black horse with a white pad and raises her right hand in greeting. In the background, spectators can be seen in the stands and it is drizzling.

It will be emotional, top-class and historical. In 150 days’ time, the world of equestrian sport returns to the place where it celebrated its greatest championship to-date, namely the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games. From August 11th-23rd, 2026, the Allianz Park will become the platform for gold, silver and bronze – for thrilling competitions, unique emotions and unforgettable moments. The best horses, the best riders, the best sport in the most spectacular atmosphere. That is the promise. For six disciplines. All united at one central location.

“The FEI World Equestrian Games 2006 in Aachen were the most amazing championships we riders have ever experienced,” Isabell Werth, the most successful dressage rider of all time, still raves. She must know, having won two gold medals and one bronze. She knows what it will feel like to perform her dressage freestyle routine in the sold-out, floodlit Main Stadium in the Lindt-Prize. It promises to be a genuine goosebump experience from day one onwards already. The first part of the Grand Prix in the Lambertz-Prize starts on the day of the Opening Ceremony, on August 11th. “The dressage classes in the Main Stadium will be an absolute highlight,” Birgit Rosenberg, ALRV’s Member of the Board, announced. The dressage elite will compete for medals in the team and individual classifications in this worldwide unique setting, which is otherwise exclusively reserved for show-jumpers. However, the vaulters and the para dressage riders can also look forward to a special atmosphere – their competitions will be staged in front of a large crowd in Stadium 3, which is being covered especially for the championships.

“It is particularly important to us that the para athletes are integrated into the heart of the event,” stated Rosenberg. This will lend para dressage a level of visibility comparable only to that seen at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris. “I am delighted that our discipline will attract such public attention at the prominent venue in Aachen. There are no better conditions than here; Aachen offers a dream setting for para dressage,” said a delighted Regine Mispelkamp, who recently won two silver and one bronze medal at the Paralympic Games.

With Allianz as a partner, a major supporter of the para sport and a partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games is also on board – among others, as a partner for the team classification and the freestyle competition in the para dressage. “This demonstrates the importance of this major event and the first-ever integration of para dressage in Aachen at international level,” explained Michael Mronz, General Manager of Aachener Reitturnier GmbH, with satisfaction.

Particularly appealing for the spectators: Anyone wanting to experience para dressage first-hand can purchase a day ticket for the Main Stadium, Stadium 2 or a Village Ticket and become part of this special atmosphere.

Over the course of 13 days, the sporting world can look forward to a programme packed with world-class performances: In the first week dressage, eventing and vaulting are on the agenda, followed by para dressage, four-in-hand driving and show jumping in week two. Stefanie Peters, President of the Aachen- Laurensberger Rennverein, is eagerly awaiting the major event: “It is a great honour for us to host these prestigious championships. We are doing everything in our power to provide the equestrian sport with a stage that more than does justice to this international event.”
