100 School Horses Plus: Prize draw amid an extraordinary World Championship atmosphere
Launched in 2024, the large-scale “100 School Horses Plus” project aims to strengthen the basic foundations of equestrian sport. During the FEI World Championships Aachen 2026, the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein (ALRV) and Pferdesport Deutschland (the German Equestrian Federation) brought great joy to one riding club in particular.
Riding clubs that made their way to the Allianz Park with at least five members that day were presented with a unique opportunity: They were able to register at the Pferdesport Deutschland (FN) stand to enter the “100 School Horses Plus” initiative’s prize draw. The prize on offer was a €5,000 cheque to help fund the purchase of a school horse.
Thirty-two clubs took advantage of this opportunity and were granted access to the holy grass on the Main Stadium between the first and second part of the show jumping competition in the DHL-Prize of the FEI Eventing World Championship. It turned out to be quite a crowd! Hundreds of people gathered on the very spot where the world’s best eventing riders were in the middle of competing for medals. In the midst of the action, the ALRV President, Stefanie Peters, emphasised: “This week, we have experienced special moments, emotional highlights and above all, magnificent sport. Yet, no top-level sport in the world can exist without the basic foundation – and you are that foundation: the riding clubs and riding schools.”
Amidst the enthusiastic cheers of the club representatives, she then drew the winning name: The members of Reit- und Fahrverein Lauterbach Stadt & Land e.V. embraced each other, delighted by the funding that would enable them to give the next generation of children and young people access to horses. Together the delegation from Hesse made its way over to Stefanie Peters and Dr. Klaus Miesner, board member of Pferdesport Deutschland, to accept the cheque with beaming smiles.
