In exactly ten weeks, the time will have come: That is when the starting signal will be given in Aachen for the world’s largest equestrian event of the year. From August 11th to 23rd, the Allianz Park, the traditional showgrounds at the Soers, will become the vibrant hub of international equestrian sport. But before the world’s best riders compete for gold, silver and bronze, a special highlight forms the prelude: the Opening Ceremony – an evening that combines emotion, a thrilling atmosphere and show performances, marking the official start of the FEI World Championships Aachen 2026.

Following the motto “Welcome Home,” the parade of the nations already promises the crowd a goosebump experience. When the athletes from the participating countries enter the Main Stadium, the spectators won’t just be passive observers, Birgit Rosenberg, Board Member of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein, the event organisers, revealed, “The spectators won’t just be watching from the stands then, they will become part of the show with their euphoria and enthusiasm. The parade of the nations will be more intimate and impressive than ever before – truly unique!”

Another key element of the Opening Ceremony is the next generation: Germany’s top young riders will showcase the immense potential of German equestrian sport. In the scope of the show, they will present the various World Championship disciplines and give the international audience a taste of the diversity and unique elements that will characterise the following days of the World Championships – a genuine shared experience across generations.

The grand quadrille of the German State Studs will be one of the most emotional images of the evening: 64 stallions will perform a choreography that impressively combines precision, tradition and aesthetics. Lisa Röckener, who has been captivating audiences for years with her magnificent show act based on liberty work and calmness, is a further highlight on the agenda. With her special charisma and sensitive handling of the horses, she lends each performance a touch of unique magic – and on the evening of August 11th, she will be an integral part of the Opening Ceremony. Knallblech will also be present to guarantee a great atmosphere. With familiar and new party anthems, brass instruments, specially produced DJ beats and seemingly untiring energy, the band is guaranteed to get the audience up on their feet.

The Director, Uwe Brandt, is responsible for the overall artistic direction of the Opening Ceremony. He will combine show and sport into a well-conceived overall dramaturgical experience – from the official welcome to the grand finale. “On this evening, we will not tell a story that you merely watch, you will be drawn into it,” said Brandt. “We want the spectators to feel like they are standing in the middle of a living, breathing work of art – with images, sounds and emotions that you can only truly experience if you are there in person. This energy is best experienced live at the Allianz Park.”

The production focuses on creativity, diversity and impressive show scenes, creating a framework that celebrates international friendship and unity – across national borders and disciplines.

Anyone, who wants to experience this extraordinary pageant first-hand, should make sure they buy their tickets early – some events are already sold out. Tickets are available online, by phone on +49-241-9171111 or directly from the offices of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein.
